... MUCH COOLER WEATHER MOST OF THIS WEEK WITH RAIN POSSIBLE TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY... PACIFIC STORM SYSTEMS WILL MOVE THROUGH THE WEST COAST THIS WEEK AND BRING SHARPLY COOLER WEATHER TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND SOME RAIN. THE MAIN COOLING TREND WILL BEGIN MONDAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY WHEN TEMPERATURES COULD BE 20 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL FOR EARLY OCTOBER. THE FIRST SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH TUESDAY AND BRING A SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN AND INCREASING WINDS. THE SECOND AND MUCH MORE POWERFUL SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY AND BRING A PERIOD OF MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL MAINLY WEDNESDAY NIGHT. LINGERING MOISTURE AND STRONG ONSHORE FLOW WILL CONTINUE SHOWERS INTO THURSDAY. STRONG GUSTY WINDS ARE EXPECTED IN THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS... WITH GUSTS OF 50 MPH POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY. TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF UP TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ON THE SOUTHWEST FACING MOUNTAIN SLOPES WHILE AROUND ONE-HALF INCH OF RAIN IS POSSIBLE AT LOWER ELEVATIONS... WITH MOST OF THE RAINFALL OCCURRING LATE WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT. WITH THE COLD AIR ALOFT... THERE COULD BE SOME SNOW AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT... MAINLY ABOVE 7000 FEET IN SAN BERNARDINO AND RIVERSIDE COUNTIES. FAIR AND WARMER WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO RETURN FRIDAY.
