Thunder from Down Under

A couple of videos of the Thunder

I have watched a lot of the video footage from this swell.

First from the waves at Teahupo'o contest, next as the waves hit the Hawaiian south shore (see the Daily Bread), next as the waves hit SoCal.

Maybe the simultaneously best wave and most dangerous conditions is this combo of The Wedge and a Kayak.

Someone in marketing decided that it would be a good idea to run a biggest standup surf boarder on a wave at the Wedge promotion.  Which answers the question "How could we make it any more dangerous out there?". (My answer was blindfolds for everyone but a handful of hard boarders out amongst the hoards of body boarders is pretty good in an awful sort of way)

Looks like it is starting to wind down. Hopefully there will be some goodness left over for the mat meet tomorrow.

fyi, the kayaker never caught a wave and was asked to leave the area by the lifeguards...

I really don't have a problem with anyone's board of choice, but the last thing the Wedge needs is more shrapnel, I wouldn't want to be in the lineup with all the hard craft.
