etcetera etcetera etcetera

I get several emails every day telling me about how good the surf will be somewhere I'm not.

Most of you do as well but the email that Adam Wright just sent out about the 2009 Hurricane Season is exceptional!

In addition to going over the hurricanes that create waves for Southern California, his discussion of wave generation in general a must read.

Now for something different

I get songs stuck in my head

Today the song was "counting flowers on the wall" by the Statler Brothers

You Tube had two versions I can decide which one is weirder so I am including them both.

Enjoy

Live from The Porter Wagoner Show

This was a big hit amonst the acid heads and flower children of the day. Here they are dressed in matching shark skin suits. I like the spotted ties.

The Statler Brothers performed this song at a Johnny Cash show in Denmark 1971, which also contained guest performances by Carl Perkins and the Carter Family.

Digging the hip matching outfits again.

I've gotta get out of the desert

I keep hearing you're concerned about my happiness
But all that thought you're giving me is conscience, I guess
If I were walking in your shoes I wouldn't worry none
While you and your friends are worrying 'bout me, I'm having lots of fun

Counting flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playing solitaire till dawn with a deck of 51
Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothing to do

Last night I dressed in tails pretended I was on the town
As long as I can dream it's hard to slow this swinger down
So please don't give a thought to me I'm really doing fine
You can always find me here and having quite a time

Counting flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playing solitaire till dawn with a deck of 51
Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothing to do

It's good to see you, I must go, I know I look a fright
Anyway my eyes are not accustomed to this light
And my shoes are not accustomed to this hard concrete
So I must go back to my room and make my day complete

Counting flowers on the wall
That don't bother me at all
Playing solitaire till dawn with a deck of 51
Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo
Now don't tell me I've nothing to do

Post Of The Month!

I love the way by 1971 EVERYBODY had longer hair and sideburns - even my Dad.

PS - I still think Hee-Haw was one of the most under-rated shows. You can find all kinds of musical gems you-tubing that one as well.

I'm sitting here with my dreadlocks and tattoo of the African continent just a-tapping my feet and bobbing my head. That was a jam! When I was a kid, I always liked the Statler Brother with the deep voice. I felt the same thing about Melvin of The Temptations. Great song!

I hope you're holding up well. I know it's hard to be away from the water.

6FnP - I should dig out some of MY 70's pictures but we would all have nightmares for weeks...

Surf Sis - It had a good hook line(s) but I always thought it was more of a Lovin Spoonfull tune.

Mom is doing great as for me, looks like I will spend my 40 days wandering in the desert.

Following your daily posts keep up the good work! You may beat me back into the lineup.
Fun to hear this song again! It was on my tape for the Pulp Fiction soundtrack that I played over and over in 1994.
