with the holidays

fast approaching

stacked up like dishes

after the big party

but before the frivolity

and the feasting

begins in earnest

take a moment

to consider

in deep solitude

the many meanings of the season

the long slow exhale

that is the Fall

followed by the pause

that is the very heart

of Winter

then Spring

the deep inhale

that starts the cycle

anew
