there I was

January of 1966

in the fourth grade

everyone excited that

we would soon be one "decade old"

when up north in San Francisco

things were heating up

about ready to bust loose

into the Summer of Love.

what would be know at Fillmore West

was beginning to take shape

under the direction of one

Bill Graham aka Uncle Bobo

at what some would call the

epicenter

of the 60's counter culture

separated by

only 420 miles

and maybe another

five or ten years

meanwhile in Hawaii

RB was getting ready

to cut the nose and 2 feet

off the blank Lopez had brought him to shape a board for the winter
