24 Killer Dana, Stanley's, then Wedge

24
Killer Dana, Stanley's, then Wedge
surf spots come and surf spots go
there are seasonal sand shifts
that reflect the swell directions
changing things from year to year
Then there are man made changes
Dana Point was enclosed to make the marina
The shoreline at Stanley's
which was named after a diner on the cliff
was drastically altered to allow for the expansion
of Highway 101 and the Seacliff off-ramp
Wedge, yes the mean ole nasty itself
will probably continue on
but getting there will be tricky
depending on the status of the Balboa Peninsula
it's currently under a couple feet of water.
Future day trips may require surfers enter the water at Pirate Cove
for a brisk swim across the harbor entrance.
Funny thing, the peninsula was enhanced
in a manner of speaking
by dredging the sand up from the bay
to create a stable area
for very expensive ocean front properties
now they are dredging the bay and using
a barge to dump the sand miles off shore.
If only there was somewhere else they could use the sand.
When I first played the guitar
without plugging it into an amplifier,
the people at Fender were blown away.
They couldn't believe the sound. I said,
'See, gentlemen, the world is no longer flat.'
