Fall is my favorite time of year
it's also a time of high water
massive tide swings
and late summer heatwaves
hotter than ghost pepper
chicken wings
the light is failing
by 4:30 pm
the day is ending
in a parade of shadows
made up of
late fall light,
the remaining leaves
and
a chill
The last of the south swells
fill in and wash across the summer sandbar
soon to be replaced
by northwest swells
offshore winds
and booties
