The dark and the damp in LA

Soon the rattle and clicks of the summer

noises from some rusty beach cruiser

will disappear into a growing fog

Legends of ants will

bid us adieu

all turning as one

and climbing aboard

their hordes of trained mosquitoes

shout "Hi Ho Silver"

and fly off into the sunset

not to be heard from until next spring

but for now

the 73 degree average in August

is being abused

only two days of 70 degree temps

this month so far

and don't ask me about the humidity

But the harvest moon

still shines

and the last summer tomatoes

are its gift to you
