Drinking coffee and petting the cat

 I am reminded

that memory is not real

true it's made up of bits of reality

smells, textures

tensions in your body

visions

all held together

like a bouquet

of wildflowers

just picked

not quite fitting together

with more than a few weeds

So it's interesting

that we spend so much time

with our memories of the past

and then project them onto the future

when we should really spend our time

in the present
