Start the week

Awakening to a hot summer morn
the day soon to be ripe

the sidewalks blooming
with hopscotch patterns

Vacationing tourists
roasting to acquire
that particular shade
of pre cancerous pink
proof that they have
been there done that

did we just pass by
six weeks of night and morning
low clouds
followed by partial
afternoon clearing?

struggling to stay
in between the lines
balancing on one foot
I pick up my marker
and begin the week
