Alfred Nobel, (who, by the way, was not Batman's butler) invented dynamite as well as a few other nasty and probably very explosive things and then in an attempt to make up for it set aside his considerable fortune to make amends by giving out prizes and a stipend. Nobel Prizes are awarded in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace (Nobel called this prize "fellowship among nations").
