The water is coming

 

we drift
a ship of fools  

marching ahead
toward
a splash of rain next week

another drought year
the usual gift
of a normal season

only measured up to 3 inches

last year

All the rain in these parts
Drains to Bay
returning to the sea

The important water
falls as snow
up in the Sierras
once winter is over
the giant snow cone
on the mountain top
melts
trickles down
the water becoming
the primary building block
of all the new life
next spring

as we drift
gravitationally attached
to this rock
a small drainage
west of the mountains
all of it
hurling thru
space
