It's stopped raining

The waves are blown to smithereens and nastiness

Filled with the sort of things that have collected

since the rains stopped last year

and suddenly wash out 

into the light

the water is always happy to see you

an incoming tide 

it rushes around your ankles

like puppies 

inviting you to dive in and play

when it recedes

the red dust washed away

nothing is left but the cosmos

In the US 

the education of the population

grade school and high school classes

are provided by the state

after that

you just watch Jeopardy!

it's a sad day

for higher education
