Winter
We have been in a drought
off and on
for years now
So long
that I had forgotten
what it was to have
a proper winter
Now all that's changed
Storms passing
every few days
slowly adding water
to the local aquifer
Snow building up
in the Sierras
Waiting for the Spring
to melt those chilly stores
Some storms
gathering moisture from
"tropical rivers"
in the sky
Too warm to make much snow
The rain runs off
pushing tons to sediment
to the ocean
Looking forward to the Spring
The sandbars are going to be
excellent
not at first of course
but after a few swells
to groom all that new sand
Keep an eye on the river mouths
