Blue eyed soul

Not really a Three Dog Night

but it's shaping up to be a

two egg morning

as the rain

so gently falls to earth

preparing the soil for

THE BIG STORM

that's going to move in tonight

watering the crops

renewing the planet

and washing sand down

to replenish

the odd rivermouth sandbar

** Blue Eyed Soul is the name of the genre that Wikipedia gives TDN.
Never heard that one before
I need to get out more

this morning in the early morning light

A few dark clouds mixed in with the overcast

The weather forecasts have been read

the first seeds of the summer garden are sown

(I know I'm late)

the WunderMap is in constant update mode

one more thing

if someone could just

go out and wash their car

the rains will come

acoustic first set

Excited about the rain forecast for later in the week

I love to sit and listen to the rain on the plants

The picture above is the winter garden

(several kinds of greens plus some volunteer flowers)

no water or just water from a hose

does not make a happy garden

Rain water will make the greens jump up a couple of inches overnight

It's magic

Here is something to listen to while we wait

This just in!

Widely scattered light,

really.

It must be getting close to Spring

Not only didn't lose all it's leaves we had flowers all winter!

And thanks to those of you

that danced

or the change

in the Jet Stream

we here in so cal

are looking at a few days

of winter storms

It has been long enough

that we must go over the rules again

wait awhile for the worst of the pollution

to flow out of the river mouths

The sand that washes down to the beach

will be here all summer

no need to rush

one more thing

if you are driving

in the rain

drive more slowly

and be careful

Rain Dance

Just in from the National Weather Service

"BEGINNING LATER NEXT WEEK...JUST BEYOND THE CURRENT FORECAST PERIOD. A SOLID UNDERCUTTING OF THE EASTPAC RIDGE BY THE WESTERLIES APPEARS TO BE IN THE WORKS AND HAS BEEN WELL ADVERTISED NOW FOR NUMEROUS RUNS OF THE GFS/ECMWF/GEM MODELS. WHILE STILL MOVE THAN 7 DAYS OUT...THIS LOOKS LIKE THE FIRST CHANCE FOR SUBSTANTIAL PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE AREA IN MANY WEEKS. THE 12Z GLOBAL MODEL RUNS ALL START OUT THE MONTH OF MARCH WITH A SIGNIFICANT TROUGH MOVING INTO CA FROM THE WEST."

Good news

but

we have been watching these things

go either way

for a while now

I think a true

"March Miracle"

(the official term where we get an entire years worth of rain in a month)

is going to require some crowded sourced magic

friends and neighbors

I'm asking you to contribute

to a communal rain dance!

no matter

that you live in a geographically

separate location

just shake

your respective

booties

WITH INTENTION!

for rain in Central and SoCal

which will help out the rest of the North Americas

and the rest of the planet (we are all connected after all)

by putting us in a more normal "winter pattern"

so do what you can

not all at the same time

not in some predetermined way

but with

as Bruce Lee said

"emotional content"

you can do it in groups

you can do it in pairs

you can do it alone

you can do it waiting for a bus

but do it you must

do it to bring rain

to the California plain

Seasons Change

We are now smack dab in the middle of

winter-spring-winterish-definately-summer-spring

while the east coast has been "enjoying"

our winter and their next two winters combined

but still no such thing as

climate change

nope

not around here

now if you would all please stand for the pledge of allegiance

followed by a few rousing chorus's of America the Beautiful

our Congress can get back to the business of

making the rich even richer...

They won't let me share this but

interesting times

BTW this isn't it
this is the old old guitar
the new old guitar
is black
answers the old question
"do you sleep with that thing?"
So

new guitar in the house

strings to change

action to adjust

intonation to set

I am so amazed that

instruments

all labeled

"guitar"

on the warning label

"Caution playing at high volumes can cause hearing loss..."

Huh?

But still,

six strings

tuners

assorted pickups

and knobs

can amount to

such completely different

instruments!

and the electrics

so completely different

than acoustics.

I'm having a good time exploring.

These are

interesting times,

and not a drop of

most certainly polluted

quite possibly radioactive

water in sight

yes

interesting times

quite

I'm of two minds

as the title implies

the weather has me a bit confused

on one hand

the west coast winter

and I am obviously using the term "winter"

in it's loosest possible definition

is receding into our history

as the beginnings of another

drought year

(last year we got less than half of our regular rainfall)

trees and bushes are beginning to show signs of spring

The false pears are in full bloom and the stone fruit buds are starting to swell...

But there is another chance of rain on Thursday evening

Hope

(dare I say)

Spring(s)

Eternal

Times are a Changing

I'm not a big sports fan

I just can't muster enthusiasm for activities

in which I'm not able to participate

(I somehow make an exception for the winter Olympics)

So for me the Super Bowl is an excuse

for my wife to cook up a storm

and for me to tuck right in

and watch the commercials...

So I was not really that upset

when the cable went out

(only for the Super Bowl channel)

and we missed the middle of the game

and half time

Sadly we were not spared the Dylan / Chrysler ad

I still don't know how I feel about that

On one hand I think artist's should do what they want with their work

and to change things up whenever they want to

on the other hand

while I have no problem with Dylan going electric at Newport

and I would probably be standing in line to applaud a commercial

where Mr. Dylan looks at the camera

plugs in his electric car and says

"the times they are a chargin"

I feel no love for the Dylan double

shilling for Chrysler

but at least it wasn't Justin Bieber...

Great Stuff

Unless you live under a rock

and hey who am I to judge

You know about the great set of interviews

that Kendog has done over on the UK Mat Surfers site

The latest and perhaps greatest interview...

Surfsister!
